The Codifier arranges any PDF file for printing as a book (a codex). After generating your Codified file, print it double-sided with the scaling set to 100%, then fold it to form your book or pamphlet.
QUESTIONS
Why would I want to add blank pages to the beginning and end of my text?
If you plan to bind your book into cover boards, you will need blank pages to glue down to the boards. Most books also contain one or two blank pages in the front and the back to protect the contents.
Why would I want to add dots for punching holes? What are the holes for?
If you are binding your book using a “through-the-fold” binding technique, you will need to pierce the spine of each signature in the same places in order to attach each signature to the next one. Depending on your binding process, it may make sense to punch the holes from the inside of the gathering (e.g., with an awl) or from the outside (e.g., with a blade or punch).
